The challenge

DoDreams, the creative studio behind the smash-hit mobile game Drive Ahead!, set out to amplify the success of their multiplayer combat racing game by exploring new ways to engage players and expand their audience by diversifying to a new platform, Apple Arcade.

With over 300 million organic downloads and an active community, DoDreams felt they understood existing Drive Ahead! players. But in order to de-risk their investment, they needed help understanding Apple Arcade players.

The Challenges:

• With limited data from Apple on mobile players, DoDreams sought a forward-looking source of data to better understand Apple Arcade players.

• Identifying new opportunities for innovation in game features and content for Apple Arcade players.

• Ensuring new initiatives were rooted in data-driven decisions that aligned with player expectations and desires.

DoDreams partnered with Solsten to tackle their challenges using a blend of on-demand psychological insights and custom audiences. Solsten helped segment Drive Ahead! players into distinct personas based on motivations, communication styles, and preferences, providing a clearer understanding of what drives engagement and how to align future features and content effectively. Next, Solsten created an audience for Apple Arcade players, helping DoDreams understand the overlap and opportunities for their new audience.

The result

Leveraging these insights, DoDreams prioritized their roadmap tailored to specific personas, launching Drive Ahead! Carcade successfully on Apple Arcade in Q4 of 2024.
